One of the highest grade Soviet-Era movements that we can source. This pair embodies the signature utilitarian functionality of the Russian aesthetic and the fine, decorative craftsmanship of watchmaking. Hailing from 1960, this cufflink has been given a beautiful polish - a light-catching "GENEVA STRIPES". This is a Swiss technique used by Russian horologists to give their watches a decorative and noticeable finish.

CYRILLIC GEARS: The Cyrillic Gears is a even rarer version of this model - the gears and plates are beveled and then engraved with original markings detailing the company name of the watch movement.

(The CYRILLIC GEARS is the displayed photo).

- Circa 1950's - 70's.

- Silver soldered.

- 19mm x 14mm.

- 16 камни' (16 'stones'). Jewels are ruby bearing-points inset by the watchmaker to reduce friction caused by the movement of rotating gears.

"GENEVA STRIPES- notice the striped lines of polishing running horizontally along the watch. A Swiss decorative technique that is commonly used for enhancing aesthetics.

"ENGRAVED CYRILLIC" - (Cyrillic Gears Only) - original hallmarks by the Russian watchmakers done in Cyrillic, naming the watch brand and jewel amount.

In our Cufflinks range, the same watch mechanism will be used, and will only vary ever so slightly between each unique piece.

- Each piece comes with a box, gift-wrapped and also with a card detailing the watch mechanism's origin and history.
