July 14th, 1789, Paris, France. An angry crowd stormed the Bastille, a medieval fortress and symbol of royal power, marking the beginning of the French Revolution.

For July, we wanted to create something in tribute to the beginnings of independence, the collective efforts of ordinary men & women, and the will of the common people.

To represent our industrious and resourceful nature, we had to look for something appropriate, and found ourselves looking very small indeed - we settled on the humble honeybee. Diligent yet energetic, the hardworking honeybee was seen fondly by a man known as Napoleon. A few years later, the bee found itself adopted as the royal symbol for Napoleon Bonaparte, the First Emperor of France.
