In Greek mythology, the Labyrinth was an elaborate, confusing maze designed and built by the legendary artificer Daedalus, and his son, Icarus.
Its function was to hold the Minotaur, a monster with the head of a bull and body of a man. The Minotaur was ultimately slain, symbolising the triumph of human courage over primal chaos.
