MATRIX features our first opal of non-Australian origin - Ethiopian Opal.
Mined in the Welo Region, Ethiopian Opals are mainly found in volcanic rock, whereas Australian Opals are predominantly found in sedimentary rock. Ethiopian opals often exhibit a broader spectrum of vivid colours, including reds, oranges, and greens, while Australian Opals may display more pastel hues. The first significant Ethiopian opal deposits were discovered in the 1990’s, and are the new kid on the block compared with the century-old Australian Opal juggernaut.
We set MATRIX within a minimalist, geometric frame of solid gold, designed to create a 'contemporary Art Deco'.
