The Sword of Damocles is an ancient tale originating from the court of Dionysius II of Syracuse, embodying the responsibilities that accompany power and privilege. Damocles, a courtier, envied the king's wealth, prompting Dionysius to offer him a seat at a lavish banquet, with a sword suspended above him, held by a single horsehair. This precarious position illustrates that with great power comes great responsibility.
The story, resonant through centuries, serves as a poignant reminder that with great fortune and authority often come unseen, imminent threats, and that those in positions of power must consider the consequences of their actions.
With a polished, royal finish, DAMOCLES features the Sword of Damocles, suspended above a blood droplet of July’s birthstone: RUBY.
